Should Great White Make a Comeback?

Great White recently announced they're preparing to cut a new album and return to the road. Guitarist Mark Kendall tells the Associated Press he believes there's a lot of popular support for the band to resume normal activities after the 2003 fire in a Rhode Island nightclub that killed 100 people. "These people [in the club] were like friends to us, not just rock fans," he reveals. "There's a fellowship with the surviving victims. ... We all get together, we hug, we cry. For the majority of the people, they all want to hear the band play."

Do you think Great White should return to doing what they do best after the tragedy?
1) Yes, Great White made some amazing hard rock music and it's time to put the Rhode Island tragedy behind them.
2) No, the band should show their remorse by hanging up their instruments -- permanently.
3) Write in here with your own response.

I don't know what people expect these guys to do.

They're musicians.

I'm sure there's not a huge market for them, but they can't change the past, and I can't see why they shouldn't play their music.

I think they should come back if they want to. It won't be easy, but if that's what they should do then go for it.

I was supposed to go that night and didn't. The Station ALWAYS had tix available the day of the show, I waited to get tix and decided that day to blow it off. I used to hit almost every show that came thru town at The Station. I was always up front and had a great time.

I was a big Great White fan up to that night. When the tragedy unfolded, and my personal experiences from it, I stopped listening to Great White. Only recently have I started to go back and enjoy some of their music.

I think they should try and come back, new album, new tour. Will it be a huge hit? Probably not, the market for their type of music is dead in the U.S. It's also going to be hard to shed the stigma of being responsible for the fire.

The are musicians, they should be able to continue with their career. No one new the fire would happen, no one really knows who to blame. The victims and families will live with it for the rest of their lives.....so will the band.

Thanks all for writing in, especially Rhodeislandrock. It's great to get the perspective of a local.

Sure, let 'em go back to recording and performing; why not? The cloud will alweays be there, but they have to try to get to some sense of normalcy.
